Skyy Vodka has numerous more highly sexual based advertisements besides the ones featured here. How do these pictures make you feel while viewing them? What does it say to you about their product? Is the product making false claims? Do you believe these advertisements are directed at men, women, or both.
When I see these advertisements, I definitely think of a highly sexualized product...or consumption of their product will result in the depictions. I also feel like I am looking somewhat at perfection because of the appeal and the angles and shadows in each photograph. It definitely seems directed at males, even though it is a product that both males and females consume. Maybe they are encouraging more males to buy their products because this type of alcohol doesn't appeal as much to men?? The top advertisement seems to be directed at women because it is advertising a fruity flavored vodka (which I personally would associate with females)...yet I found it interesting that they put the two girls on the front of it like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure of what I think for the first advertisement. I think it definatly looks like it suppose to grab the male's attention, however, to me, it is more of a females drink because of the cherry flavor. With the second one, again I think it is favoring the male audience. I also personally do not see where the connection is between the picture and vodka. They have it there just for the sexy appeal of it. Now the third one, i think they are perhaps grabbing both geder's attention. This one is showing the sexual side of males and females. However, I take this picture as if you drink Skyy vodka, you will be able to end up in some sex group, orgie, thing. Like I know that is what the picture is actually showing, but I take pictures the way they are. I am not one to find the inner meaning. So I do not like how this picture is being displayed. In an overall view, yes, i think these ads are more targeting the male audience and they are abusing the sexual side of women to get what they want.
